Calling all photography enthusiasts and creative talents! We’ve teamed up with well-known Crickhowell photographer Martin Wall to launch a brand-new photo calendar competition. This is your chance to showcase your photography skills, see your work featured in our 2026 calendar, and support a great cause!

KEY DETAILS

Theme: “My Happy Place” – we’re searching for 12 brilliant photos from non-professional photographers that celebrate the special spots and moments in nature that bring you joy. So whether it’s a stirring photo of a dramatic Welsh seascape, an intimate close-up of an some aspect of the natural world, or simply a quiet corner of your back garden, if it was taken by you in Wales, we’d love to see it.

Seasonal focus: We’ll be looking for images that reflect the different months and capture the beauty of the Welsh seasons.

Age restrictions: None! We welcome entries from children and adults, provided you live in Wales.

Entry fee: None! It’s completely free to enter!

All we ask is that:

  • The photograph is taken in Wales by the person submitting it.
  • It should not have been previously published.
  • You must grant us permission and rights for its use (while retaining credit as the photographer).

Please submit your entry (limit of 1 photo per person) through our online entry form by the closing date of 6pm on Friday 15 August. You’ll be asked to provide some key information, including a title and brief description, and when and where you took the photo. This will help the judges understand the story behind your photo.

Photos should be in landscape (not portrait) orientation, and should be submitted in high-quality JPEG format (maximum file size 10MB). If your phone or camera saves photos in a different format, you can convert them to JPEG using one of the free online converter tools, such as cloud convert or zamzar.

Please read the full terms and conditions before you submit your entry.

The 12 winning photos will be chosen by Martin and a panel of judges, including:

  • George Foster – Professional designer and photographer.
  • Kevin Kelley – Photographer with 50 years of experience.
  • Stewart Rogers – Charity member.

Winners will be announced at the end of August, and their photos featured in our “My Happy Place” 2026 Photo Calendar. The overall winning shot will also be featured on the cover. Each of the 12 winners will receive a free copy of the calendar.

The professionally printed calendars will be available to pre-purchase, and will be ready for collection or delivery in October, in plenty of time for Christmas gifting.

Proceeds from the sale of the calendars will help support our work providing community-based cardiac rehab exercise classes across North Gwent. Join us in celebrating the art of photography and the joy of giving back. Let your camera capture your happy place and help make a lasting impact.
