We’re looking for one or more class members to take on a new Expert by Experience Volunteer role for the charity. A key part of the role will be attending the “What Now?” education sessions of Phase 3 Cardiac Rehab Programmes at the Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny and Ebbw Vale’s Aneurin Bevan Hospital.
These take place every six weeks and last for around 30 minutes.
As an Expert by Experience Volunteer, you’ll be expected to speak to people nearing the end of their hospital cardiac rehab programme, sharing your personal experience of living with a heart condition and inspiring hope and belief that recovery is possible. You’ll also stress the importance of long-term exercise and explain the options available.
You’ll need to be reliable, happy to work as part of a team, and a good communicator, with a clear understanding of the importance of patient confidentiality. Full training will be provided by the Aneurin Bevan University Hospital Board, with support from their Patient Experience Involvement Team.
